Limb-lengthening surgery typically is used to correct length discrepancies and deformities that have been present since birth or caused by trauma. But some men have turned to the procedure to increase their height.
Theresia Fischer, who starred on Germany’s “Celebrity Big Brother,” has undergone two surgeries to lengthen her legs. The 31-year-old underwent two operations to insert adjustable telescopic rods into her tibiae (shinbones), adding an extra 5.5 inches to her height.
Brian Sanchez, 33, was 6 feet tall but felt his short legs made him look like a "Spy Kids" Thumb Thumb. He also didn't like that his 5-foot-10 wife could almost look him level in the eyes.
